Happy New Year to everyone! I've been really appreciating the sky recently and trying to record it's ever-changing beauty using watercolors. During twilight, the way it graduates from pale red; to yellow; to cerulean blue; to navy blue; finally reaching the deep purples of space just blows me away!

There used to be a small field behind my apartment with plum trees growing in it. Recently the owners have sold the land and are building eight houses on it. Pretty soon instead of looking out of the window and seeing a green field and the mountains, I'll be looking at the back of someone's house. I started to make some paintings of the view I've enjoyed the last two years.

Recently I've been working on a set of children's portraits. My wife and I own a small English language school in Japan. Language is such a profound part of our lives; through teaching English and spending time with our students they have come to be like family to me. These portraits are a memory device for me. Looking at them will always bring me back to this time in my life. Time passes so quickly and we only have today once. I hope for the students and their families these will become special reminders of childhood.
